Windows 8.1 Update

After a long gap in our blog, I thought it might be the best place for a few tips about this update. Not every updater has had a smooth ride so some light (?) reading might be useful. Rather than paraphrase some of the experts in the trade, best that I provide you with the appropriate links.

We have become used to our Windows updates automatically downloading and updating. Microsoft has taken a very different approach, Win 8.1 is a full new operating system and it requires you to visit the Windows Store within your system. You will find an invitation to download this, about, three megabyte file. Installation is simple but time consuming, just follow your nose.
Windows 8 has been with us twelve months now and the update is supposed to address some of the issues many of us still have with the product. If you still long for your old XP or Windows 7 system, I recommend that you install one of the several 'Start Menu' programs. I have been using Classic Shell but to check out the options just google 'Start Menu programs'.
